Things to do in Houston on the 4th of July

I am no longer a newbie resident of Houston, but I’m still working on getting adjusted to the idea that I’ll probably be here for years to come. I figured the best way to do so would be by making sure I’m setting out time to regularly explore and take advantage of all that Houston has to offer. Hence, I’ll be starting a new blogger series called “Explore Houston”! I’ll make some time each month to step out of the comfort of my home life and routine to explore some Houston treasures.

To start, I made a fun to-do list for activities that are taking place in Houston on the 4th of July. Hope you decide to take advantage of some of these!

UPDATE: Due to the rain and flooding in the area, please confirm that these events are still on schedule.

Freedom Over Texas featuring Chris Young

Head over to Eleanor Tinsley Park tomorrow from 4pm to 10pm while country music star, Chris Young, blows you away. Tickets are $8 online and $10 at the door.

4th of July Weekend at CityCentre

At CityCentre from 7pm to 11pm there will be live country and rock music by the Texas Unlimited Band. Admission is free!

Miller Outdoor Theatre

This is something I definitely NEED to do ASAP while in Houston… and on 4th of July, you and loved ones can head over to the Miller Outdoor Theatre with a blanket and picnic at 8:30pm for a lively, patriotic concert. Fireworks will begin at 10pm. Admission is free!

Dinner at North Italia

Okay, North is one of my favorite restaurants, hands-down. I know it’s a chain now, but I LOVE it! Everything is so deliciously handcrafted and I have a few go-to favorites (Fungi pizza, anyone? Best. Thing. Ever.). On the 4th, North is offering a 25% discount on your entire meal! YEAH! Go!

Here are some more foodie type deals for tomorrow!

BCycle Bike Rides

Bike-riding is a newly found obsession of mine! It’s just so freeing and exhilarating to be outdoors with the wind rushing against you. However, buying a bike is a pretty expensive commitment if you’re not going to be regular with it. It’s also pretty challenging to travel with your bike if you don’t have an appropriate car-rack. Lastly, if you live in an apartment like I do, storage space is fairly limited! If you’re in this situation, consider a membership with BCycle, a bike-sharing system within in Houston (and several other major U.S. cities). For $9/month, you can rent a bike, 60 minutes at a time, and just ride around the city! It’s fantastic, so much fun, and a great activity to do with friends or family tomorrow!

4th of July Celebration at Bayou Bend

At the Bayou Bend tomorrow from 12pm to 5pm, there will be a 4th of July festival where there will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence, various performers, food and drinks, and more! Admission is free!

City of Bellaire Fourth of July Parade

At 9:30am tomorrow, head over to Bellaire Town Square and Loftin Park for a parade and festival with games, food, and music! This a definitely a winner for family-friendly activities!

My plan for tomorrow is to ride BCycle bikes around Buffalo Bayou, making a stop at the Bayou Bend festival. Then I’m going to head to North Italia for a SUPER EXCITING discounted dinner! YAY! Finally, I’ll wrap up my day with some fireworks at CityCentre!

What are you doing tomorrow for 4th of July festivities?!
