Relax then reboot

Stress and anxiety run deep in my veins. I am very orderly and need things to be a certain way. I’m also a creative who likes to execute grand visions. Sometimes it’s difficult for me to get things done in small amounts of time because I need time to just think and overthink before I get to work. When I finally get to work, I have several drafts and aim for perfection. I put my all into my work, even sacrificing sleep on a regular basis to do a job well-done.

Houston’s Rothko Chapel and the “Broken Obelisk” on MLK Day

My first time visiting Rothko Chapel was 10 years ago when my artist cousin hoped to share with me her admiration for Mark Rothko. I didn’t see or feel the significance then. Apparently, in addition to healing powers, time also changes people.

When I walk in now, with nearly 3 decades under my belt, I’m overwhelmed by how connected I feel to the structure, to the people inside, to myself.

New Year, New Resolutions

Wow, it’s 2018! It’s such a strange and exhilarating feeling to say this number out loud. 2018. The world is changing, albeit sometimes not for the better, and memories, experiences, and wisdom are continuing to be acquired… always for the better.

And, wow, I have not blogged in over a year. Uncovering this fact made me sad and definitely informed some of the resolutions I have made for this year. Before I share my resolutions let me just say that I absolutely love making resolutions.

I thrive on goal-setting and I use several opportunities throughout the year, both momentous and mundane, to sit down to reflect and resolve to do better.

As a firm believer on making SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely) goals, here are a few I made for 2018 (note: this is a living list and may be adjusted or added onto!).
